Cover Rant

My child is ill today, so, I don’t have a whole lot of free time. There is something bothering me that I want to talk about book-wise.

So, this was advertised to me the other day (more like three weeks, but who’s counting?), and I screenshotted it for future purchase because it looked soooo messed up, disturbing, and unnerving!

I was like, “um, YES!!!”

So, it’s gross, right? This cover slaps! The fig, the blood, the mouth open and looking unnatural at that angle, the eyes that look dead, everything! Plus, the white flipped up collar moment sort of looks like she’s been beheaded, which adds a layer of intrigue like this could possibly be a murder story or whatever.

So, I wanted to lurk and see what pricing could be for this book since it’s in the pre-order stage, and I can’t find it anywhere!

And then, I find….this!

Same title, same author, her website, and I sat there staring at my screen like…

Where’s the amazing cover???

This one is…fine? I guess?? It looks way more generic if I’m completely honest. Maybe it matches the story better? But, I came back because of the old cover, and now?

I don’t want it….

I devour books by their covers first, ya know? If someone I trust recommends a story to me, cover art doesn’t really matter, but in this case, it totally does!

So yeah. I don’t want it anymore, (unless it’s recommended, any recommendations?) since my time, like calories, is worth a lot to me.
