Order! Order! Order in the Cover Court!

Will the ad make me click or flick?

This popped up on FB:

And my brain was like:

The ad is dark and moody and the saw gives the implication of something terrible possibly. But notice the placement of the saw…

Notice that it’s not only about to cut something, but the person’s arm!

So, either the person in the artwork for the book ad is an idiot, or something so terrible has happened to them that they’d rather saw their own arm off than deal with whatever is going on! Or maybe their arm is contaminated?!

Well, all this points do something gruesome!

And in the point zero two seconds it takes me to make this assumption, the ad has joined the little shoulder devil and shoulder angel whispering in my ear:

And, I’m all, wait, you’re the shoulder angel, aren’t you supposed to not?

And the shoulder angel is all:

So, I clicked!

As I waited the miniscule amount of time for my phone to load:

I’ve clicked on this before….!

And it’s already in my saved folder for to be bought books!

Silly me!

So, let’s judge this book by its cover! The thunder and lightning storm is great, gives it moody and menacing. The bloodied street sign is ominous and the population number at 0 is ironically funny to me.

And I like that! Simple, straight forward, you’ll likely get what you expect.

So, I’ll be marking this down as one to buy…again. Maybe it’ll be different than what I expect. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes that’s bad.
