Been hormonal, stressed, and living in merge games this weekend. Lots going on with motherhood, chores, other business ventures, etc. I’ve been staring at my pile of books like, soooooon…and then suddenly it’s bedtime and I’m exhausted.

These games have kept me a tiny bit sane over the past five days. I can be brainless, the bandwidth required is minimal, and I enjoy the little storylines each one offers.

Last Asylum is fun because the whole plague/healing/helping people loop is satisfying. I like the design of the doctor (plague doctors have always looked so dope to me), and I’ve got a decent primary and secondary team going, plus my home base. There are a lot of red notification dots yelling at me, and I don’t fully understand all the mechanics…but I’m progressing anyway, so we ride.

Despite having names, I gave them nicknames from left to right:
•Barbarian
•Merida
•Drama Queen
•Boobarella
•Naughty Nun (and yes, she will be level 65 to match the others, but I need to earn more antitoxins or whatever…🫣)

And then, this guy is the one I’ve dubbed, Doug…

I REEEEEEEEAALLY want Doug! Maybe RNGeebus will grant me him soon.

Merge Mansion is one I remember being heavily marketed a few years ago. It was everywhere. It was also the one I liked the look of more than the other ones (you know the balding guy one and the garden lady one…I don’t remember their names 😅).

The mystery with the sneaky grandma is fun, and again, the gameplay is easy and brainless. It gives my hands something to do while my ADHD runs a bagillion thoughts at a blubillion miles an hour. Yes, those are real numbers now.

Haunted Merge is my newest one, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot! I originally thought it was Japanese, but the names feel more Chinese, and the lettering in the clues leans that way too (until I click Engrwish and get my translation moment lol). The voice acting is surprisingly good! Not amazing, but importantly, not cringe.

There’s also a nice little thrill from the tension, mystery, and horror vibes. I’m definitely curious to find out what happened to pigtails’ parents.

Then, there are the food merge games…which all kind of blend together at this point. Different flavors, same loop. They hit that itch of “yum, food, I made something and served people,” and give me something to do with my hands without needing much thought.
The only one that stands out a bit is the hotel one, since you merge more than just food. Otherwise… they’re all one big delicious blur.

Merge Dragons! and Merge Magic! are adorable. Some of the creature and dragon designs are genuinely stunning. Super chill, super cute… unless you get sucked into an event and suddenly you’re stress-merging against a deadline.
Otherwise, they’re pretty relaxing.
And remember: merging 5 is always better than 3. 😉

Am I being productive? Not really.
Am I optimizing imaginary milk, cocoa, and plague doctor supply chains? Absolutely.
This is my version of “resting.”
