A very colorful, Hawaiian themed, and puppet filled FUNeral for Louise’s mom specifically feels completely on brand for her. I kinda feel bad if the dad, even in death, it’s more about the loud mom over the reserved dad.
When literally clowns are in full makeup and attendance, Aunt Honey becomes even more iconic:
“If any of them tries to hug me I’m going to get my gun and shoot them dead.”

And this is the most visually obnoxious and loud funeral I’ve ever read about. No wonder Louise feels out of place and uncomfortable. And the morbid imagery of Louise describing their ashes like, “something you’d sweep out of the grill, out in a bag, and throw in the trash.”

Saying that, “Pupkin was the only thing she [Louise’s mom] brought to the marriage besides the house” makes me think the marriage was strained. Hendrix emphasizes that Louise grew up poor, and money anxiety is a real thing. Once the puppet hobby grew into more of a job with actual income, Louise’s mindset goes from it started with Pupkin, to small plays, to Bible stories, to bigger gigs, to conventions, and to here (as in to the puppet filled FUNeral filled with puppets and puppeteers).

Having Louise be sentimental about Mark singing and playing the guitar at the funeral was sweet. Shows humanity in a sense that we can be related and grow up together and still love and/or not like those around us. Not everyone has a strong familial connection. Some are also found families. I have both, thankfully. Louise being a bigger person and apologizing to her brother (even though I still think the house influenced them supernaturally) that she was upset and didn’t want to lose control. He accepted her apology, albeit, in a douchy sort of way. So, whatever. Louise tried.

Louise not speaking at the funeral has her jostled. She only noticed when Mark pointed it out to her. This keeps getting brought up, so it must be important or merely part of Louise’s guilt.

Mark immediately wanting to know what the wills say is kinda tacky, but I get it. It’s also on brand for what we know about his character so far as well as adding to the suspicion that he has something to do with the car accident.

Ending with, “but she’s a mom and nothing happened on her schedule” hit super close to home 🫣
